Help Us Give Rick the Kick!!!
Crossposted at Young Philly Politics
Are you sick of talking politics and ready for action? Do you wake up in the night sweating and screaming after a nightmare in which the Democrats fail to take back either house of Congress next month? Do you want a "just-in-case" pass for November 8th, so you can tell all your friends "well, at least I know that Santorum wasn't reelected because I didn't do something?
Well, if you're in Philly, I have just what you need!
I work for Philadelphians Against Santorum and we are working around the clock to kick the Santorum out of Santorum and all cheesy intros aside we really do need your help. See, we are basically the only non-party group doing any ground work in Philly (hell the Casey campaign doesn't even have any operations in all of Philly!), and we do it all with the help of thousands of volunteers and small-donors (as a PAC we cannot take very big donations, even if we wanted to).
Here are some of the many ways that you can help ensure that we win back the Senate this year, or, at the very least, ensure that it isn't your fault if we don't:
Help with the last three days of voter registration!!!
The registration deadline is Tuesday, October 10th! (they must be delivered by Midnight on that date) and with almost no groups doing registration and outreach towards young people in Philly we can be fairly certain that there are thousands of kids our age who will not get to vote because they didn't register in time. We are going to do everything that we can to make sure that every kid is registered, but we'll need a lot of help!!!
Most of our planned activities are on Temple's Main Campus, but if you go to another school and would like to do outreach and registration there, please let me know and I'll work with you to either set you up at your school or connect you with groups that are doing work there.
On Temple's campus we are going to do a few big pushes, starting on Sunday and continuing through Tuesday evening. For the dorm storm nights we will have pizza and other refreshments for volunteers . We will also be having a contest to see who can get the most registrations (for all activities before Tuesday night). The Temple College Dems have some prizes lined up, and I have some as well. Not like I'm saying that you need to be bribed, but...
Anyway here's our schedule for outreach on Temple's campus before the deadline:
Sunday - 8pm-11pm - DORM STORM! - We will be working with the College Dems and other campus groups to go door to door (after the Eagles Game) through as many dorms as possible. We will knock on doors and make sure people are registered, and if they are we will find out if they want to be reminded before election day or if they want to give us a hand.
Monday - 9am-5pm - Campus Canvas - We will be standing at strategic locations throughout Temple's campus to make sure that everyone knows that the deadline is coming and that they are registered.
Monday- 6pm-11pm - DORM STORM!
Tuesday - 9am-5pm - Campus Canvas - THIS IS IT! Registration ends, and we need to make sure that all the people who forgot or put off registration know that it is now or never.
Tuesday - 5pm-10pm - DORM STORM! - This one will be dependent on how many people want to help out.
See a free concert and get out the youth vote! Making a difference has never sounded so good!
Like Free Music? Volunteer at an R5 Productions show with Philly Against Santorum and we'll get you in for free!: Who said that making a difference had to be boring?
Philly Against Santorum is working with R5 Productions to register voters and talk with them about the election at all of their concerts between now and election day. We have purchased tickets to every R5 show and with the help of their great staff we are setting up a table at each of their shows. Here are just a few of the shows we will be working at (for a full listing of shows, and MP3s of each band, please see http://r5productions.com/shows.html ):

As I said above, we rely on small donors to do all of our work, and as I also mentioned we are basically the only field operation in the city. I know that everyone gets a thousand pitches for money at this time of year, so I'll keep mine short and sweet.
If you can give a little to help us field a staff, keep an office, and make a difference in this election, please do.
